Who We Are
SideQuest Story, LLC ("we," "us" or "our") is a small studio in California that makes games and apps. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who receives it, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have.
It covers our iPhone game Sky's Falling! Chicken Panic, which appears on your phone as "Sky's Falling!"; our website, sidequeststory.com; and the emails, website messages and pre-release tester feedback you send us. When we release a new game or app, we will add it to this policy before it launches.
Privacy at a Glance
- No accounts. Our games do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or age, and they do not collect your precise location.
- What the game sends. How it is played, crash reports, your phone's model and its IP address go to companies that help us run, fix and improve it. They work out a rough location from the IP address.
- Reward ads are always optional. The game shows an ad only when you choose to watch one for a reward. Our ad partners' software runs in the game to get ads ready, so it collects some information even if you never watch an ad.
- Tracking is off unless you tap Allow when Apple asks whether the game may track you. With tracking on, our ad partners use your phone's ad ID to show ads that fit your interests. With tracking off, you still get the same rewards, but the ads are generic. Some state laws call tracking "selling" or "sharing" your information. To check it or turn it off, open the game's Settings and tap Your Privacy Choices (details).
- Our website counts visits with Cloudflare, without cookies, and, for visitors in the United States, with Google Analytics, using cookies. Its contact form sends your message to us by email. We do not use advertising cookies.
- Children. Our games are made for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13 (Children and Parents).
- Your rights. Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask what information we have about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop selling or sharing it, by emailing support@sidequeststory.com (how to ask).
Children and Parents
Our games are made for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our games do not ask for your age. As far as we know, we do not sell or share personal information about anyone under 16.
If you believe a child under 13 has played and we collected information about them, email support@sidequeststory.com. We will delete everything we can find and tell you what we found. Our games have no accounts, so analytics and crash records are stored under random IDs, not a name or email address; we usually cannot match them to a child, and they are deleted on the schedules under How long game information is kept. To stop the game from collecting information on a phone, delete the game.
If you are under 13, please ask a parent to write to us. We answer a child's message once, ask them to have a parent contact us, and then delete the child's email address, message and our reply.
Apple does not let apps ask to track on child accounts, so on those accounts our ad partners cannot read the advertising identifier. On any iPhone, a parent can turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking, so that no app can ask.
Sky's Falling! Chicken Panic
The game has no accounts. It does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or age, and it does not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos or your payment details.
What the game collects
The game, and our partners' software inside it, collect this automatically while you play:
- Identifiers: a random analytics ID the game makes and keeps with your saved progress; the identifier for vendor, a number Apple gives your phone for one company's apps; random IDs that Google's Firebase and our ad partners' software make for this copy of the game; your IP address; and, only if you tap Allow when Apple asks whether the game may track you, your phone's advertising identifier (the "ad ID").
- Device information: your phone's model and maker, operating system version, screen size, connection type and app version, and technical details our partners' software reads, such as memory, language, time zone, mobile carrier and whether the phone's software has been modified ("jailbroken").
- Approximate location: your country, region and city, worked out from your IP address. The game does not ask for your phone's location.
- Gameplay: when a run starts and ends, its score and what ended it, the characters and worlds you choose, the quests and achievements you finish, the coins you earn and spend, your game settings, your answer to Apple's tracking question, and whether Game Center and iCloud saving are on.
- Ads: the ads you are offered and shown, how you interact with them, and ads that could not show.
- Purchases: which coin pack you tap, and whether the purchase went through, is waiting for approval, was canceled or failed. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details.
- Sharing: when you open the share screen, and which app you share to.
- Crash and error reports: what the game was doing when it crashed or hit an error, technical details, and a log of the game's most recent events.
- Performance: how long the game takes to start.
Why we use game information
To run the game and keep your progress; to understand how the game is played and make it better, including changing settings such as rewards without an app update; to find and fix crashes and errors; to show rewarded ads and measure them and, only if you allow tracking, let our ad partners personalize them; and to comply with the law and protect our rights.
Who receives game information
GameAnalytics (gameplay analytics) receives the gameplay, sharing, ad, purchase and performance information above, with your device information, IP address, the analytics ID and the identifier for vendor. It works out your approximate location, then keeps only a shortened IP address. If you allow tracking, its software also sends it your advertising identifier, which we do not use. GameAnalytics is our service provider and handles this information for us. The analytics ID stays with your saved progress, so with iCloud on your play stays one history after a reinstall; it is not your Game Center ID or Apple Account, and we never use it for tracking. Read GameAnalytics' privacy notice (opens in a new tab).
Google Firebase (crash reports) receives a short session record each time the game starts or returns after 30 minutes away (random session and installation IDs, your phone's model, operating system and app version), and a crash report when the game crashes or hits an error. Firebase is our service provider. Read Firebase's privacy information (opens in a new tab).
Our ad partners, Unity (LevelPlay, ironSource Ads, Ad Quality and Unity Ads) and Google (AdMob), start their software each time you open the game online, to get an ad ready in the background. It collects a device identifier (your advertising identifier if you tapped Allow, otherwise the identifier for vendor, plus IDs it makes itself), your IP address and a rough location from it, device information, the ads you are shown and how you interact with them, how you use the game, and diagnostics about their software. Unity's ad software may also see when you buy a coin pack. They use this to choose, show and measure ads, to prevent fraud, and to run and improve their own services, as their privacy policies describe, and they may pass some of it, such as your IP address and device information, to advertisers, to companies that bid to show an ad, and to companies that measure installs. This can happen even if you do not tap Allow. Read Unity's privacy policy (opens in a new tab) and Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Apple provides these features under Apple's privacy policy (opens in a new tab): Game Center (if you are signed in, your scores and achievements, shown on Apple's leaderboards with your Game Center name, which the game displays in its Settings but never stores or sends); iCloud (if it is on, a copy of your saved progress, including your coins, characters, the analytics ID and a record of your coin purchases, kept under your Apple Account, which we cannot read); purchases, which Apple handles; the rating prompt; and, if you chose to share analytics with developers in iPhone Settings, totals and crash logs that do not name you.
Sharing a run. When you tap Share, the game makes a short video or picture on your phone, and it goes only where you send it from your iPhone's share menu, under that app's own privacy policy. For some apps, the game also copies a caption with your score to your clipboard. We do not receive what you share.
Ads and tracking
Ads are optional. The game shows an ad only when you tap to watch one for a reward, such as coins or a second chance, and the reward is the same whatever you decide about tracking.
Apple's tracking question. The first time you tap to watch an ad, if Apple has not asked you yet, the game shows its Your Privacy Choices screen, whose Continue button opens Apple's question whether the game may track you.
If you tap Allow, our ad partners can read your phone's advertising identifier and use it, with other information they collect, to show you ads that fit your interests, which means they may collect information about your activity across other companies' apps and websites. The game also stops sending them its "do not sell or share" request. GameAnalytics' software reads the advertising identifier too and sends it with your play records; we do not use it.
If you do not tap Allow, your iPhone gives no advertising identifier to the game or its partners, and before the ad software starts and with each ad request the game asks our ad partners not to sell or share your information and not to personalize ads, and tells Unity Ads that you have not agreed to targeted advertising. Each partner decides how to follow these requests under its own policy, some follow them only for players in certain states, and some information may still reach other advertising companies, as described above.
Changing your answer at any time: in the game, open Settings, then Your Privacy Choices, whose button opens the game's page in iPhone Settings, where the Allow Tracking switch is; or on your iPhone, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking, and find "Sky's Falling!" (if it is not listed, it has never asked, and tracking is off). When you change the switch, your iPhone closes the game, and your new answer applies when you open it again.
What the setting does not change. Whatever you choose, the game sends gameplay analytics, crash reports and the information our ad partners need to get ads ready, and it has no switch for these; to stop them, delete the game, and to ask us to delete what was collected, see Your Privacy Rights.
Our ad partners' own controls. Tap the privacy icon in a Unity ad or the AdChoices icon in a Google ad, or contact Unity or Google through the privacy policies linked above.
How long game information is kept
Partner periods are as each partner's own policy stated them on November 2, 2026.
- GameAnalytics: detailed event records up to 12 months, per-player and daily summaries up to 1 year, the shortened IP address up to 30 days; summaries that identify no one may be kept longer (GameAnalytics' privacy notice (opens in a new tab)).
- Google Firebase: crash reports 90 days; the installation ID about 270 days without use; no fixed period is published for session records.
- Google (ads): part of the IP address removed after 9 months and advertising identifier data after 18 months, except where Google keeps information longer, for example to prevent fraud.
- Unity (ads): no fixed period; as long as its purposes need it, or as the law allows.
- Apple: as Apple's privacy policy describes.
- Your saved progress: on your phone until you delete the game, and in your own iCloud, where deleting the game does not delete the copy. We keep no copy of your progress.
sidequeststory.com
The website has no accounts and asks for your email address only in its contact form.
What it collects: from the contact form, your email address, the topic you pick, a subject and your message; on every visit, the pages you visit, taps on an app store button, whether you sent the form (never what you wrote), the website that sent you to us, your browser, operating system, type of device and language, and your country and state or region from your IP address. Cloudflare, which runs the website, receives your IP address and the details of each request, and runs a bot check when you start filling in the contact form.
Who receives it. Google Analytics (opens in a new tab) counts visits from the United States only, using cookies that last up to two years; we have turned off Google's data sharing, Google signals, ads personalization and city-level location, so Google may use this information only to provide its service to us. Cloudflare (opens in a new tab) hosts the website, counts visits without cookies, protects it from attacks, runs the contact form's bot check and delivers form messages to our inbox. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow other companies to track your activity across other websites through ours.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google's opt-out add-on (opens in a new tab). If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out request for that browser; our website does not sell or share your information, so it changes nothing there, and we cannot connect a browser to a phone (in the game, use the tracking setting under Ads and tracking). Our website does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for them.
How long it is kept. Google Analytics keeps the detailed record of your visits 2 months and totals longer; contact form messages are kept like emails, below; Cloudflare keeps information as long as its purposes and the law require.
Links to other websites, such as the App Store, Apple's and Google's help pages, our LinkedIn page and our partners' privacy pages, have their own privacy policies.
When You Contact Us or Test Our Products
Emails and contact form messages. We receive your email address, your message, anything you attach and, from the form, the topic and subject, and we use it to answer you and keep a record of what we answered. Cloudflare receives email sent to our address and form messages and passes them to Google (Gmail), where we read them. We keep messages and our answers for 24 months after we answer, then delete them. Messages from children are handled under Children and Parents.
Testing a version before release. If you test one of our products through Apple's TestFlight and send feedback, Apple passes us your comments, screenshots, crash logs, device details and your email address, which we do not keep. We store tester feedback, without your email address, with services that keep and sort it for us, including an automated service that matches reports to known problems, for up to 24 months. A test version keeps its own saved progress and analytics ID, apart from the App Store version.
Other Times We Share Information
Besides the partners named above, we share information only when the law requires it or to protect the rights, property or safety of our players, our company or others, and, if SideQuest Story is part of a merger, an acquisition or a sale of assets, as part of that deal, with this policy still applying.
How We Protect Information
We design our products to collect as little as they can, we use reasonable safeguards for the information we hold, and our game and website send information over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No way of sending or storing information is completely safe, so we cannot promise perfect security.
Our service providers, GameAnalytics, Google Firebase, Google Analytics and Cloudflare, must, under their terms with us, give the information they receive the same or equal protection that this policy describes, and may use it only to provide their services to us and for the few other uses the law allows. Our ad partners, Unity and Google, use what they receive under their own privacy policies. If you have not allowed tracking, we tell them not to sell or share your information, and in the US states whose privacy laws their terms name, their terms with us require them to follow those laws, honor that request and protect that information. Apple, our email provider and the services that keep tester feedback handle what they receive under their own privacy policies and terms.
Your Privacy Rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we use it and who receives it; to correct information that is wrong; to delete your information, except what the law lets or requires us to keep; and to stop selling or sharing your information.
How to ask. Email support@sidequeststory.com, or use the contact form on our website's Help page and pick "Privacy request", and tell us which product you used and what you would like us to do. We answer within 45 days, and if we need more time we will tell you why. We may ask you to confirm the email address you wrote from, but never to prove who you are to stop selling or sharing. Someone you have given permission can ask for you, and a parent or guardian can ask for their child; we may ask for your signed permission.
Stopping selling or sharing. Switch tracking off for the game, as described under Ads and tracking; if you write to us instead, we will reply with those steps, because our game has no accounts and we cannot find your phone from a message. Some ad information may still reach other advertising companies, as the California Privacy Notice explains.
What we can find. Because the game has no accounts and never shows the analytics ID, we usually cannot match your request to analytics or crash records, which are stored under random IDs; records we cannot match are deleted on the schedules under How long game information is kept. We will tell you what we found and deleted, ask our service providers to delete any records we can match to you, and tell you how to ask our ad partners directly. If we cannot do what you asked, we will tell you why.
No penalty. We will never treat you differently for using any of these rights: the game works the same and costs the same, rewards for watching an ad are the same whatever you choose about tracking, and we never give or hold back a reward in exchange for your personal information.
California Privacy Notice
This section adds what California law asks of us, is our notice at collection, and applies to California residents together with the rest of this policy.
Selling and sharing. If you tap Allow on Apple's tracking question, our ad partners, Unity and Google, may use your advertising identifier and related information to show you personalized ads, which California law counts as "sharing" and can also count as a "sale." If you do not tap Allow, the game asks them not to sell or share your information, but, as Ads and tracking explains, some ad information such as your IP address and device information may still reach other advertising companies, which California law may count as selling. Apart from advertising, we do not sell or share personal information. To opt out, switch tracking off for the game, as described under Ads and tracking; if you email us instead, we will reply with those steps.
What we collect, and who receives it. In the past 12 months, mostly while testing before launch, we collected these categories of personal information, and we expect to keep collecting them. Why we use each, and how long it is kept, is under the game and website sections above.
| Category | What it is | Companies that work for us | Ad partners | Sold or shared |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | the analytics ID, the identifier for vendor, partner IDs, your IP address, website cookies, your email address if you write to us, the advertising identifier if you tap Allow | GameAnalytics, Google (Firebase, Google Analytics), Cloudflare | Unity, Google | with Unity, Google and the advertising companies that work with them if you tap Allow; some may reach those companies even if you do not |
| Internet or other network activity | how you play, device information, the ads you see, crash and performance reports, the website pages and buttons you use | same | Unity, Google | same |
| Approximate location | country, region and city from your IP address; on the website, country and state or region | GameAnalytics, Google (Google Analytics), Cloudflare | Unity, Google | same |
| Commercial information | the coin packs you tap and buy, and whether each purchase went through | GameAnalytics, Google (inside crash reports) | Unity may see a purchase | if you tap Allow, that can count as selling or sharing |
| Messages, attachments and tester screenshots | what you send us by email, the contact form or TestFlight | Cloudflare, our email provider, the services that keep tester feedback | none | not sold or shared |
Your Game Center scores and achievements go to Apple because you choose to use Game Center; we do not sell or share them. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we have no actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Your California rights are the rights under Your Privacy Rights, including the right not to be treated differently for using them; Global Privacy Control is covered under sidequeststory.com.
